The clients had recently purchased the property, a 1980s house with single-storey side annexes, situated on a large, elevated plot with breathtaking panoramic views eastwards over woods and countryside. Whilst light and airy inside, the house’s dated external appearance did not really match up to its magnificent site and location, and internal alterations were also needed to create a more open space suitable for contemporary family living. The client wanted ideas for transforming the property within a reasonable budget by making mostly surface alterations, rather than undertaking substantial construction work. The solution was an exterior makeover, with stained horizontal cladding and grey aluminium doors and windows repositioned to improve elevational balance and proportion. Stepped decking to the rear also now properly links interior and exterior garden spaces. The transformation is spectacular and the clients are delighted with their new stylish and contemporary looking house.
