A design scheme for a substantial extension to the surgery was prepared in the space of a few days after the client had first contacted the architect. This rapid pace, due to the primary care trusts funding arrangements and deadlines which made the project possible, characterised the entire project. Despite the worst winter for 20 years, through close collaboration between client, architect and builder, the project was designed, approved, tendered out and built in under six months. The practice is very happy with the extra space and high standard of the new accommodation which was needed for the growing number of patients.
